Area Attractions
So much to do, so little time
Galveston and the Bay Area offer so much in
the way of things to do if you get tired of
relaxing at Marina Bay RV Resort. On
this page you will find information and
links to many of the area attractions.

Restaurants
Bay Area Houston
boasts numerous restaurants that offer
waterfront dining, from casual outdoor
venues along the channel to elegant dining
on Galveston Bay and Clear Lake. Fresh Gulf
seafood is certainly a trademark of the
region, so enjoy the signature fare in your
choice of settings. In addition to the
sumptuous seafood, try the many cuisine
choices such as barbecue, Chinese, Japanese,
Mexican, Thai, steaks and South American.
Perhaps the greatest concentration of
restaurants is at the
Kemah Boardwalk only 3/4 mile away!
There you will find Joes Crab Shack, Landrys
Seafood House, The Cadillac Bar, The Crab
House, Aquarium Restaurant, The Flying
Dutchman, Saltgrass Steakhouse and Babins
Seafood House.
Just across Clear
Creek Channel from the Kemah Boardwalk, in
the waterfront village of Seabrook (just 1.5
miles away!) you'll find the Zagat-survey
recommended cuisine of
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, as well as
several local eateries and bars mixed in
amongst the various fish markets.
We keep a full list of nearby restaurants in
the office-drop in for some suggestions from
our management team!
Shopping
The area's shopping
options span from clusters of cottage shops
selling handmade crafts to modern shopping
malls filled with popular stores. The Kemah
Lighthouse District and
Kemah Boardwalk (only ¾ mile away) boast
many retail specialty shops.
You may opt to stroll
lazily under the shady canopies of
centuries-old Live Oak trees in the
Historic District of League City (just
2.5 miles away) where many of the shops are
in historical buildings.
Just up the road, on
IH 45, youll find one of the Houston areas
leading shopping centers,
Baybrook Mall.
If you feel like staying “home” after a long
day of shopping, pick up some fresh seafood
from one of Seabrooks many fish markets. We
recommend Rose's Seafood. Bring it back to
the resort and grill out at our waterfront
BBQ area!

Outdoor Attractions
Located
midway between Houston and the
beaches of Galveston Bay, Bay Area
Houston provides a beautiful setting
for relaxing, vacationing, boating,
and for all sorts of special events.
A 2,000-acre inlet of Galveston Bay,
Clear Lake is the third-largest
pleasure boat basin in the United
States. Grand yachts, sporting boats
and fishing vessels reside in the
areas 19 marinas, which offer more
than 7,000 boat slips.
Bay Area
Houston is actually comprised of
several independent cities,
including the most southeastern
portion of Houston (known as Clear
Lake City).
Five additional communities are
clustered around Clear Lake and
Galveston Bay: Webster, Nassau Bay,
League City, Kemah and Seabrook.
These cities enjoy the soothing
waters and refreshing Gulf breeze
year-round.
Boating
activities and water recreation
provide hours of fun and relaxation
in the presence of the water's
natural beauty. Surrounded by water,
the fertile land offers lush foliage
including many evergreen trees and
plants.
It's no wonder that many Houstonians
slip down here for day trips,
weekend visits, and sometimes end up
moving here or buying a second home!
Day Trips
Just across
the lake you can spend the day
visiting the
Johnson Space Center, which was
established in 1961 as the Manned
Spacecraft Center. The JSC today
continues to lead NASAs efforts in
human space exploration and offers
many fun experiences for the entire
family, including an annual
Ballunar Liftoff Festival.
A quick trip
South takes you to
Galveston Island, home of the
Historic Strand, sandy beaches,
Moody Gardens and much, much
more (even a winery)!
On the way down, you may want to
cool off and place a wager at the
indoor
Gulf Greyhound Park, the worlds
#1 and largest greyhound racing
operation.
Or you can
test your knowledge of Texas History
and also see the worlds tallest war
memorial at the San Jacinto Monument
(15' taller than the Washington
Memorial!) and
San Jacinto Museum. While
there, check out the
Battleship Texas, once
considered to be the most powerful
weapon in the world.
